(Think <em>Grapes of Wrath<\/em>.)<\/p>\n<p>Maybe you\u2019ve heard the expression, \u201cIf it weren\u2019t for bad luck, there\u2019d be no luck at all.\u201d\u00a0 That\u2019s the case in this story that takes place in the late 1800\u2019s in Appalachia.\u00a0 It will give you a deep appreciation for the early Saints in the Salt Lake Valley or for anyone starting out life on their own from nothing, but the will to succeed through their own hard work.\u00a0 I don\u2019t know if you could call their lives a success, though.\u00a0 It\u2019s more that they just keep on keeping on.<\/p>\n<p>I was fascinated by the detailed descriptions of what life was like for a woman over a hundred years ago.<\/p>\n<p>It ends rather abruptly\u2026 and you\u2019ll be exhausted when it\u2019s over!<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d love for there to be a sequel that details happier times for Hank and Julie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gap Creek By Robert Morgan &nbsp; Be forewarned.\u00a0 This is not a happily-ever-after story!
