Or leave these out because, HELLO, they are expensive.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sift together the flour and baking soda and set aside.<em> <span style=\"font-size: 9px;\">(Yes, I find my sifter in the back of the drawer and actually do this step.)<\/span><\/em> Cream the butter and sugars until light and fluffy for 2-3 minutes.\u00a0 Scrape down the sides of the bowl once or twice <em><span style=\"font-size: 9px;\">(or six times, if you want to be naughty).<\/span>\u00a0<\/em> Add egg and mix well.\u00a0 Add vanilla. Mix.\u00a0 Add the sifted flour in small additions on low speed until well combined. Add oatmeal, cherries, chocolate and toffee pieces. Mix to combine. <em><span style=\"font-size: 9px;\">(My hand mixer cannot handle this, so I used my toned muscled arm.)<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Divide into three equal portions and roll into logs using plastic wrap approximately 1 \u00bd inches in diameter.\u00a0 Dough can be frozen or chilled in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 days or baked immediately.\u00a0 Cut logs into \u00be inch pieces.\u00a0 Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet (or not) until golden brown&#8212; 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
